Since I decided I need to use this thing more often, I thought I'd kick off with my official thoughts on MTV's 2006 VMAs!! Justin Timberlake - "SexyBack (Live)" - I knew he was gonna open the show and I figured he would open with "My Love" and segue into "SexyBack". His falsetto on "My Love" was awful and proved once and for all that he has nothing on Robin Thicke in the vocals dept. The live rendition of SB wasn't that hot to me either. Timbaland surprised me by how much he danced since he barely moves when he and Nelly Furtado do "Promiscuous" live. Overall, an alright opening.
Jack Black's Opening Skit - Jack proved to be the lamest host yet and his entire opening skit was LAME and unfunny!! Not to mention POINTLESS!!
Best Male Video - Lil' Kim's intro was kinda cute yet corny at the same time but she seemed drunk overall. Her lame banter with the audience was hilarious when she received no feedback! As for the winner. . .
. . .I think Busta was robbed. He had the most entertaining and energetic video out of the bunch and it was given to this whiny Brit instead. I cannot believe the whiniest, most annoying video/song of the year took that one. James can go back to Bedlam now.
Best Hip-Hop Video - 1st off, let me just say I think LL is ruining all the credibility he has left in the industry by associating himself with 50 Cent. The whole union just smacks of desperation on LL's part and is gonna come back to haunt him when Todd Smith 2 tanks, mark my words. As for thewinners. . .
. . .I don't know how BEP keep gettin passes for being "hip-hop" when they are one of the most POP groups around!! Common deserved that award and MTV knows it. I said the whole fan voting idea was gonna be a bad one.
I shall return with more thoughts soon.
